Espaço Oliveira Mendes comes to class!

Espaço Oliveira Mendes returned to Pelican Bay to facilitate classes in Capoeira in March, 2024. This was Espaço’s 3rd time at the prison and it is always a treat when he brings his mad mad skills and music to the spaces we gather.

Participants learned about and used instruments, like berimbaus and the agogo. Espaço gave a lecture about the history of Capoeira before engaging participants in dance and movement.
